 The New Railway Line of Thessaloniki - Amphipolis - Nea Karvali is being built with the aim of increasing the freight capacity of the network, enchancing the role of Kavala Commercial Port (New Karvali), developing combined commercial transport, upgrading the railway connection with Bulgaria and Turkey, and ensuring the interoperability of the railway corridor.

It is a single railway line, electrified, 174 km long with a design speed of 160-200 km/h.

It includes a vertical road network with a total length of 25 km and a side road network and tunnel roads with a total length of 121 km. It also includes 10 Railway Stations, 30 railway bridges, 23 tunnels with a total length of 22 km and 71 intechanges.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF THE OPERATION OF THE UNIT IV OF THE COMPANY “LIGNITIKI MEGALOPOLIS SA”

The present study refers to the environmental permitting of the activity titled “Operation of the steam electric station and electricity production of “Megalopoli Unit IV”, of nominal capacity 300 MWe, lignite fired plant, of the company “Lignitiki Megalopolis SA”, which is located within the Lignite Centre of Megalopoli, near position “Kouvelia” of Municipality of Megalopoli, South Arkadia, along with the publication of new and updated Environmental Terms of Operation. The total area of the field for the Unit IV, owned by Lignitiki Megalopolis SA is estimated 203 sq. km.

The present study refers to the environmental permitting of the activity titled “Operation of the steam electric station and electricity production of “Megalopoli Unit III” of nominal capacity 300 MWe, lignite fired plant, of the company “Lignitiki Megalopolis SA”, which is located within the Lignite Centre of Megalopoli, close to the location of Marmara of Municipality of Megalopoli, South Arkadia, and the publication of new and updated Environmental Terms for its operation. The total area of the land owned by PCA is estimated around 653 sq. km.

Environmental Impact Study of Cannalization Project of the Stream “THOLORREMA” inside the field of the autonomous electricity generating plant of Samos, of PPC SA (ΕΙΑS 378)

The subject of the study is the assessment and evaluation of the environmental impacts of the Tholorrema waterstream, running through the Field of the autonomous electricity generating plant of Samos, cannalization project. The length of the stream in its current form, within the boundaries of the station, amounts to approximately 518m and extends upstream to the boundary of the autonomous electricity generating plant area and downstream to the defined foreshore line (GG 316/D/1982). Within the framework of the same study, a delineation study of the stream was also carried out on the basis of Law 4258/2014.

EIA OF THE RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN DRAMA AND PARANESTI

EIAS OF THE PROJECT MODIFICATION OF THE RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN DRAMA AND PARANESTI (KM 192 + 400 TO KM 228 + 662) (EIAS 375A&375B):

The project concerns the MODIFICATION of the railway line between Drama - Paranesti, as well as the restoration of the vertical and parallel road network.

The feasibility of line upgrading is to increase operating speed, improve line capacity, reduce longitudinal gradients, adjust the operational layout of Stations to current conditions, eliminate level crossings and replace them with intersections, Reducing the time of the journey and achieving a railway line with safety and comfort.

The length of the railway line amounts to 36.262 km, its width is 7.2 m, while the vertical and parallel network is approximately 23 km. The project also includes 4 railway bridges with a total length of 214 m, 1 road bridge 30 m long, 3 tunnels with a total length of 909 m, 92 drains, 10 ditches, 16 intersections with the vertical road network, 1 Railway Station (Drama) 2 Railway Stations (Nikephoros and Platanias) and 1 Technical Station. The environmental impacts of the project during its construction and operation were studied and evaluated and appropriate mitigation measures were proposed.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF THE PROJECT "CONNECTION OF THE ROAD POLYGYROS-IERISSOS  WITH  OF SITHONIA ROAD, SECTION: Kelli - Nikiti" (EIAS 370)

The Environmental Impact Assessment Study refers to a new road axis / vertical road linking the Thessaloniki-Ierissos road to the Sithonia roadway, 23.79 km long and 11.00 m wide. The side and vertical network is 6.34 km long in total.

The study assessed the environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the project and suggested appropriate mitigation measures.
