CONFRONTING THE OBLIGATIONS DERIVED FROM ARTICLE 12 OF DIRECTIVE 2009/147/ΕC (FOR THE WILD BIRDS) FOR CYPRUS

The project refers to the obligations derived from article 12 of the Directive 2009/147/ΕC (for the Wild Birds) for certain bird species in Cyprus. The subject of this project includes the collection and study of the current data (2013-2018), assessments, reports etc. and the collection and analysis of primary data (recordings) as well as the creation of a new updated Data Base and submission to the EU according the EU guidance documents.

MANAGEMENT PLAN OF THE KOTYCHI – STROFYLIA PROTECTED AREA

The aim of this study was the preparation of a Management Plan for Kotychi – Strofylia National Park Protected Area (total area 159.752 ha) based on national and European legislation. More specifically the purpose of the study was: a) to determine specific measures for the conservation and management of the protected area, b) to propose more specific terms and restrictions for human activities and projects, and c) to define the priorities for further actions and measures so as to ensure future conservation, effective protection and management of the protected area.

RECORDING, MONITORING AND CONSERVATION STATUS ASSESMENT OF THE BIRDS OF THE 79/409/EEC DIRECTIVE WITHIN THE BORDERS OF PRESPA NATIONAL PARK PROTECTED AREA

The aim of the project was the monitoring and conservation degree assessment of the bird species included in the Annex I of the Birds Directive 2009/147/EC, the migratory species that might be species of SPA characterization and other species considered important in national or local level. Together with all these, this work evaluated the conservation degree of endemic species present in Prespa.

HABITAT TYPES, FLORA AND FAUNA SPECIES MONITORING WITHIN THE BORDERS OF THE PAMVOTIS LAKE PROTECTED AREA

The aim of this project was the design and the implementation of a scientific monitoring program for the habitat types and species conservation status assessment for the period 2011-2015, based on Article 11 of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC. The results of the project will be used for the preparation of the National Report on the Application of 92/43/EEC Directive. Among others, Favorable Reference Values (FRVs) have been proposed for the different habitat types and species, as well as Conservation Objectives for each Natura 2000 Site within the protected area, in order to achieve favorable conservation status for each habitat type and species.

Monitoring and assessment of the conservation status of marine habitat types and species of Community interest in Greece "(SES 112)

With this study a scientific monitoring system of field work will be applied to assess and re-evaluate of the conservation status of marine habitat types and species, in accordance with Article 11 of Directive 92/43 / EEC. The results of this study will feed the 3rd National Report - Report on Application of Directive 92/43 / EEC (2007-2012 reference period, in accordance with Article 17 of Directive 92/43 / EEC).

Monitoring and assessment of the conservation status of habitat types and flora and fauna of Directives 92/43/EEC and 2009/147/EC and in particular of Bird Species in the area of Kotychi - Strofylia Management Body (KSMB)"("(SES 111)

The project aims at Monitoring and Evaluation the conservation status of Bird species on the Carrier Liability Management Area of Kotychi- Strofylia wetland.

The design of the monitoring program was based on the texts of the European Commission's work relating to the definition and description of the parameters within the framework of Guidance Document of Article 12 of Birds Directive 2009/147/EC, as well as on the guidelines for completion of Standard Data Forms (SDF) for Natura 2000 areas.

The aim of the study is to propose protective (conservation) and management measures for bird species and their habitats as well as to locate the significant spatial entities throughout the entire study area, for species conservation needs.

Standard data forms (SDF) whose update is among the aims of the project, are focusing apart from the degree of conservation of species (within the region), on the importance of the area for bird species at national and European level.
